A just transition to clean energy - getting it right, getting it funded

Energy, Environment and Climate
Date: Thursday, 27 June 2019 08:45 - 10:30

Venue: Brussels Press Club, Rue Froissart 95

Something doesn’t add up. Member states are receiving EU funds to move away from fossil fuels in a socially just and fair way. Yet their climate and energy plans contain no such move.

As the EU decides on its multi-year budget and 2050 climate strategy, and Member States finalise their climate and energy plans, it is essential to ensure the framework is in place for a successful just transition to a clean and sustainable economy.

At this breakfast event, WWF and CAN Europe will present their two new reports, “An EU fund for just transition – what it should be and why it matters” and “Just Transition or Just Talk?”

On the eve of a new European era, we need to recognise more than ever the need for a just transition from polluting fossil fuels, and put in place the right framework to make it happen.
