Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service and Ocean Energy Europe Partnership Kick-Off

A reception cocktail is jointly organised by Mercator Océan and Ocean Energy Europe (OEE) to kick off a partnership signed between the two entities in the context of supporting ocean renewable energy through the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS)

This cooperation will help the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service to support the activities of Ocean Energy Europe industry members by raising awareness about our open data & services. The aim is to stimulate the sustainable blue economy and blue growth by boosting the activites in the marine renewable energy sector through the provision of free and open marine data.

The partnership will include 4 main areas of exchange, below are some of the key points:

  1. CMEMS products and services will be promoted to a diverse set of companies and organizations with blue renewable energy initiatives
  2. OEE will provide feedback on the ocean renewable industry needs so that the CMEMS service can adapt to the market
  3. OEE will organize trainings & events that present CMEMS services to raise awareness about our open data & services available and practical information on how it can be applied to support blue renewable energy activities
  4. OEE will provide renewable ocean energy market intelligence to help CMEMS to better understand the different businesses within the industry and their respective logistics. This information will be used develop our services and products for ocean renewable energies.

Ocean Energy Europe (OEE) is the largest network of ocean energy professionals in the world. 118 organizations, including Europe’s leading utilities, industrialists and research institutes, trust OEE to represent the interests of Europe’s ocean energy industry.  Ocean Energy Europe’s mission is to create a strong environment for the development of ocean energy.  To achieve this, OEE engages with the European Commission, Council, Parliament, European Investment Bank, and national ministries on all issues affecting the sector, such as energy, climate, finance, power grids, among others.
