RECONNECT Kick-off Conference: International International Conference on Rule of Law and Democracy in Europe

Human Rights
Date: Thursday, 05 July 2018 12:30 - 19:00

Venue: Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts, Brussels  |  City: Bruxelles

Are you concerned with democratic legitimacy and rule of law backsliding in the European Union?

Don't miss the RECONNECT Kick-off Conference on July 5th in Brussels, where we will launch the four-year multidisciplinary Horizon2020 research project on ‘Reconciling Europe with its Citizens through Democracy and the Rule of Law’.

We are honored to present Dr. Adam Bodnar, Ombudsman of the Republic of Poland and H.E. Didier Reynders, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Belgium as keynote speakers.  We will also share key messages from Emily O’Reilly, European Ombudsman, and Sophie in ’t Veld, MEP.

Join us at the kick-off for a Policy Roundtable on the state of democracy and the rule of law in the EU. Take part in the discussion alongside with representatives from the EU institutions, from civil society organizations and from academia, including Alberto Alemanno, Vivien Schmidt, Laurent Pech, Dimitry Kochenov, Richard Youngs, Zselyke Csaky, Lotte Leicht and others.

The event includes lunch and a reception.  Registration is free.

We hope to see you there!  If you haven't already, please register on our website by 2 July: reconnect-europe.eu/kick-off-conference
