Public Affairs & Communications - How Do You Lobby?

Communication and Media
Date: Friday, 22 June 2018 09:00 - 12:00

Venue: FEB  |  City: Bruxelles

The Tools - Do's and Don'ts of Effective PA Campaigning

Although most lobbying is usually learned on the job, the Brussels School of Competition is holding the first ever serious, in-depth training courses on key issues for people actively involved in public affairs. The courses also aim to serve as a forum and provide networking opportunities for professionals working in this field, be they public affairs, regulatory or communication managers, corporate lobbyists, consultants, lawyers, campaigners, academics, journalists, students or civil servants.

The next session will take place on 22 June and focus on the methods used to win over policymakers, taking an in-depth look at the tools used by lobbyists, including opinion research, government relations, stakeholder mapping and media relations, among others. In particular, we will cover the various types of action you can take to influence decision-makers at the European level. Karen Massin, CEO of Burson Marsteller, will give us her tips for effective public affairs campaigning. Olivier Joris, the man in charge of European affairs at the Federation of Enterprises in Belgium (FEB), will give an overview of his organisation's advocacy activities in connection with EU issues. Finally, Social media expert Brett Kobie will take us through the intricacies of digital public affairs.
