RedKnight’s SME Instrument Masterclass has been expertly designed to equip small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the tools and information required to complete and submit a competitive application to the European Commission’s SME instrument programme for funding.

Broken into 3 parts, the Masterclass begins with an overview of the programme; ensuring attendees are clear on the aims and objectives of the programme. The second part will provide attendees with hints and tips on what to include in the three sections of the proposal, which are; Excellent, Impact and Implementation. The third part of the training will provide attendees with a detailed walk through of the proposal forms, and an opportunity to begin writing their application under the guidance of the trainers.


The Masterclass will follow the below agenda:

RedKnight Consultancy Ltd is an organisation established to support small companies and other organisations to access European Funds for research, development, innovation and training which is does through supporting proposal writing and providing training and project management expertise in organisations. The directors of the company have extensive experience in the development and delivery of EC funded projects under the Framework (Horizon 2020) Programme, Erasmus Plus (Lifelong Learning) Programme and Structural Funds Programme (ERDF;ESF; INTERREG and EAFRD).

RedKnight's team of specialists support organisations apply for grants and funding to undertake a range of activities, for example, Research and Innovation, Business Development, Education and Training. A wide range of services are offered, including: identifying grant and funding opportunities, bid writing, project development, partner search and brokerage, staff development training, and project management and administration. 

For over 30 years’ our team of specialists have worked with over 100 organisations, accessing in excess of £20m worth of funding, for research and development by providing expert bid writing, advice and support. 

Professor Quantick has been involved in the development and delivery of c. 45 European Projects/Proposals and the direct management of 25 projects in the research, development, training and inter-regional areas.  He has been engaged as an EC Expert for over 25 years’ and been involved in evaluating and reviewing DG Research and Innovation Projects as well as an  expert panellist, chair and rapporteur for a range of EC reviews, impact assessments and Ex Post Evaluations for EC Programmes. He has also acted as a reviewer/evaluator for other programmes in research and knowledge transfer proposals at regional, national and European level ( e.g. for EC Structural Funds – East Midlands Development Agency; for UK Research – Department of Health; for French Research – Agence National de Recherche). Additionally, he taught and provided training in the Higher Education Sector for over 30 years. He has supervised c. 40 Ph D and M Phil researchers and published c. 60 refereed research outputs. He has also Sourced £226,000 personal research grant income from various funding bodies, including private sector.

Mr Hodgson has experience in the development and delivery of Framework (Horizon 2020) Projects, Erasmus Plus (Lifelong Learning) Projects and Structural Funds Projects ( ERDF;ESF; INTERREG and EAFRD) over the last 5 years. His main emphasis in the latter has been project compliance, managing project outputs and reporting to managing authorities.
