Do algorithms dream of consciousness?

Research and Science
Date: Wednesday, 22 May 2019 19:00 - 19:10

Venue: Brussels Beer Project

While most people put an ethereal mind or spirit at the origin of consciousness, neuroscientists are gathering increasing amounts of evidence for consciousness as a property of the brain. If that is the case, are we just biological machines? Will be soon be able to crack the brain code and develop self-conscious AIs? How about AIs with ethical values and principles? While cognitive scientists seek to discover what separates us from machines, computer scientists are lookinig for ways to fix discrminatory effects that predictive algorithms may have.

Join Pint of Science and find out more over a pint of beer!

Pint of Science is an annual science festival that takes place o 20-21-22 May and brings researchers to your local bar to tell you about the latest happenings in the world of science.
