EU-China 2020 Strategic Agenda for Cooperation

Foreign policy, Security and Defence
Date: Monday, 13 May 2019 09:00 - 17:30

Venue: BRUSSELS

The Baillet Latour Chair of EU-China Relations and the EU-China Research Centre, College of Europe, in partnership with the European Economic and Social Committee and with the kind support of the Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, are holding an international conference on the "EU-China 2020 Strategic Agenda for Cooperation", in Brussels on 13 May 2019.

In 2013, Brussels and Beijing launched the EU-China 2020 Strategic Agenda for Cooperation, an ambitious goal-setting document covering a wide range of initiatives in the fields of ‘peace and security’, ‘prosperity’, ‘sustainable development’, and ‘people-to-people exchanges’.

As the 2020 deadline approaches, hurdles and tensions remaining in both bilateral ties and at global level certainly complicate the achievement of many of the goals set in the Agenda. Nevertheless, the EU and China still could be facing an unprecedented opportunity to step up their cooperation.
