Specialise in regulation and competition policy in the digital economy

ICT and Digital Agenda - Trainings
Date: Thursday, 21 November 2019 09:00 - Friday, 22 November 2019 13:00

Venue: Thon Hotel EU

"Digitisation represents a marvellous opportunity for our societies; but it also introduces new dangers, while amplifying others." Cullen International's seminar discusses how the EU should prevent the dangers raised by Nobel laureate Jean Tirole through the application of competition law and regulation.

Our two-day seminar provides an expert unbiased overview of EU and national level initiatives taken so far.

Topics covered include:

- market power in the digital economy

- market behaviour of online platforms towards businesses and consumers

- data concentration, sharing and governance

- dynamic pricing practices - algorithmic collusion and personalised pricing

The training will provide attendees with a clear overview of:

- the competition concerns in the digital economy, including data concentration, access to data, platform-to-business (P2B) issues such as favouring, platform-to-consumer (P2C) issues such as data collection, and contractual restrictions on e-commerce

- how economic regulation tries to address similar or related issues, including data sharing and reuse, and the fairness and transparency of onine platforms

The seminar will be of particular interest to:

- competition law and regulatory experts who are interested in how competition law and regulation are shaping the digital economy, and what complementary or alternative market remedies they offer

- those interested in finding out the latest competition law and regulatory developments affecting the digital economy, with a chance to discuss them with unbiased experts and with peers
