WeEuropeans launches the largest citizen consultation on the eve of the European elections

Human Rights
Date: Friday, 22 March 2019 00:00

Venue: European Parliament

"Europeans now feel that they no longer find themselves reflected in the actions of their political leaders and the European Union".

It is from this observation that the largest citizen consultation ever organised "WeEuropeans" was born. Europeans have high expectations for the European Union, and a feeling of belonging to the growing community. However, in recent years, the need for a common European civic education to create this public space, thus far anticipated but fragment in 27 areas, is more relevant than ever.

The WeEuropeans initiative, launched at the beginning of February, is the largest citizen-led transnational, transparent, multilingual, non-institutional consultation. Its objective is to rekindle a European link on a common basis, to refocus the debate on European citizens’ concerns and to provoke bona fide citizen representation in the European Parliament.

The citizens of the 27 countries are called upon to express their views on the future of Europe, with 100 million participants being expected to participate.

The 10 proposals approved will constitute a Citizens' Agenda, to be presented by citizens themselves, on 22 March at the European Citizens' Congress in the European Parliament.

Congress of Europeans in Brussels Friday, March 22 from 9:00 to 17:00 in the European Parliament in the presence of Antonio Tajani, President of the European Parliament in the Building Paul Henri Spaak, Room 3C050, Rue Wiertz 60, 1047 Brussels.
