NATO at Seventy – Post-Cold War Enlargement and the Future of Transatlantic Security

Foreign policy, Security and Defence
Date: Monday, 18 March 2019 14:00 - 17:00

Venue: Contact organisers for location details

This event will be livestreamed on gmfus.org.

In March and April 2019, the alliance will celebrate the 20th, 15th, and 10th anniversaries of 12 Allies joining NATO. Commemorating NATO’s enlargement presents a unique opportunity for the alliance to underline its commitment to the Open Door Policy and to demonstrate NATO’s unity in the lead-up to the 70th anniversary. Building on the success of previous cooperation, the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) with the support of NATO’s PDD will organize a half-day seminar to take place in downtown Brussels on the afternoon of March 18. The event, entitled NATO at Seventy – Post-Cold War Enlargement and the Future of Transatlantic Security will provide a platform to deliver key messages on the purpose and value of NATO’s Open Door Policy to audiences across the Alliance.
