The linguistic rights and minority education system are one of crucial importance to minorities. Although international minority protection instruments such as the Council of Europe’s Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities and European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages paved the way for the improvement of minority rights in these fields, some minorities in Europe still face obstacles in these areas. The conference on 'Fundamental Problems in Education Facing Minorities in Europe', which is co-organised by Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF) and European Free Alliance (EFA), and hosted by MEP Josep-Maria Terricabras (Greens/EFA), will be held at the European Parliament, Brussels on 20 March 2019, 9:30-12:00. The conference will give an opportunity to compare both cases and present the potential solutions for the existing problems of the Western Thrace Turks regarding the education system.
