PCI Energy Days

Energy, Environment and Climate
Date: Tuesday, 19 March 2019 - Wednesday, 20 March 2019

Venue: Brussels

The European Commission is launching the ‘PCI Energy Days’ with a policy conference and exhibition dedicated to the practical implementation of Projects of Common Interest (PCIs).

The event will provide project promoters with the opportunity to showcase their projects and share their experience on how to build future-proof and environmentally sound energy infrastructure by using innovative technological solutions, involving local communities and finding new approaches to financing.

Over one and a half day, the participants will enjoy a series of policy conferences dealing with the most pressing issues of project implementation. The ‘PCI Garden’ will open its gates on the first day of the event, giving participants the opportunity to network with project promoters, regulators and policy-makers.

The draft agenda will follow shortly.

Background

Projects of Common Interest are key cross border infrastructure projects that link the energy systems of EU countries. They help the EU achieve its energy policy and climate objectives: affordable, secure and sustainable energy for all citizens, and the long-term decarbonisation of the economy.

The EU has put in place a robust and stable framework for building better infrastructure projects bridging national and regional borders within the EU, as part of its Trans-European Network for Energy Strategy.

Modernising Europe’s ageing grid and implementation of PCIs is a complex process, requiring willingness, commitment and cooperation from all actors, such as promoters, Member States, regulatory authorities.
