Hands on Sexual Harassment: Has #MeToo Redefined the Status Quo?

Civil Society
Date: Wednesday, 06 February 2019 18:15 - 20:00

A year after #MeToo, but centuries of rape and abuse of women, sexual harassment is still an elusive concept. The 21st century has experienced a global, cultural shift redefining the meaning of sexual harassment and consent, drawing red lines between our bodies and unwanted attention, between flirtation and inappropriateness, right and wrong, a misunderstanding and a crime.

The Feminist Subcommittee of the European Commission Traineeship Program 2018-2019 is organizing a discussion panel around the sexual harassment issue: what has changed, and what hasn’t, in a year of #MeToo?

The aim is to listen to different voices from different backgrounds sharing their perspectives and definitions, interacting with the audience.

Speakers:
- Ingrid Bellander, DG JUST, Deputy Head of Gender Equality Unit
- Anni Saga Hirvelä, Me Too EP
- Ana Valenzuela PhD, SIEMPRE NGO
