Ending Violence Against Women - Taking Stock and Next Steps

Human Rights
Date: Tuesday, 04 December 2018 09:30 - 18:30

Venue: European Commission  |  City: Brussels

Věra Jourová, European Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality, put combating gender-based violence high on the agenda through the ‘Year of Focused Actions’. As that initiative comes to a close, it is time to look at what has been achieved, learn from good practices at grassroots and national level, and discuss the path ahead. To this end, the European Commission is hosting a high-level conference for representatives from Member States and international organisations, together with civil society actors and activists. The conference will take place on 4 December 2018 in Brussels.

Please note: the event is open to invited participants only. More information will be shared here soon.

This conference meets in the form of a roundtable where all will discuss on an equal footing and in an interactive manner how EU institutions, EU Member States, International Organisations, NGOs, and academics can contribute to combatting violence against women. Each session will be introduced by short "impulse statements" to trigger the discussion. The floor will then immediately be opened to the roundtable participants.
